Haling from a village with no sports aspirations, he broke the mold to pursue his dreams

In 1993, Joined the Indian Navy and found his calling in shooting there. Soon he clinched a Medal in 1996 National Championship

International success

P.T. Raghunath’s prowess in the 50m 3 Position Rifle event was remarkable, but he later transitioned to the 10m Air Rifle discipline. He made his debut on the international stage in 2006, winning his first international match in Germany, followed by another gold at the Hungary Open.

With the guidance of an Indian team coach from Hungary, Raghunath’s growth as a shooter accelerated. He went on to win a bronze medal at the Asian Championship in 2007. His international Journey included 30 international participation and 18 world cups. His last cup appearance was in 2014.

Coaching Legacy

Parallelly, PT. Raghunath began coaching the Indian Navy Shooting Sports Team around 2009 and was officially appointed in 2012. His coaching prowess extended beyond the Navy, as he mentored notable athletes like Sanjeev Rajput, Mang), Rahul Punia, Neeraj Rajput, and Kiran Jadhav, both during his tenure with the Navy and with the Indian national team

In a significant move, P.T. Raghunath took voluntary retirement from the Navy to embark on a mission close to his heart. He aimed to train and nurture budding shooters, especially those at the grassroots level who needed opportunities and expertise. His expertise, dedication, and unwavering support have become invaluable asset for the Indian shooting community.

From 2018 bo 2021, pt. raghunath served as the official indian team coach. during his tenure, he accompanied the indian team to notable events like the south asian games in kathmandu in 2019 and and world cup in korea 2018.his coaching guidance contributed to the impressive performance of athletes like pankaj and chain singh.
